PAWNED £1000 NECKLACE.
LADY TORRINGTON’S DISCHARGE. Expressing the opinion that it was 1 case of misfortune, owing to disastrous realisation of her property in 1929, Mr Registrar Mellor, at the London Bankruptcy Court, granted an order of discharge, subject to a month's suspension, to Eleanor Lady Torrington, of Shrewton, Wilts. The Official Receiver stated that the ranking liabilities were estimated at £64*29, and the trustee anticipated that a dividend of 5s 2d in the £ would be paid. This, however, would be reduced to about 4s 6d in the £ in the event of a claim being substantiated by a firm of Lloyd’s underwriters for £lOOO in regard to the loss of a pearl necklace while in pawn. Lady Torrington had a capital of £20.n00 in 1919, when she bought for £'•000 the Shrewton property and there carried on a stud farm and training establishment.
