UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF'
HELP FROM FARMERS. CONSIGNMENT FROM TE AWAMUTU (Special to Times.) TE AWAMUTU, Thursday. A fortnight ago the Te Awamutu branch of the Farmers’ Union sent forward to Auckland a large consignment of produce, etc., for distribution to distressed families in Auckland city. Yesterday the remainder of the collected produce, etc., was sent forward, and it was a most imposing array. Practically every farmer in the district contributed. It is computed that the saleable value of the two consignments exceeded £125. (Yesterday's consignment included 2i tons of vegetables, 1J tons of potatoes (additional), 2 cases of preserves weighing approximately li cwt., li cwt. clothing, 11 cwt. bacon, 1.1 cwt. poultry (including 9 fowls, 3 ducks, 2 geese and 1 turkey), G dressed carcases (2 pigs and 4 sheep), and livestock comprising 5 cows and 67 sheep.
