BRANDY SNAPS.

Can be made by young cooks from the following ingredients:— Quarter lb castor sugar, 2oz butter, 2oz Hour, i teaspoonsful ground ginger, teaspoonfuls golden syrup. A few drops of lemon juice. 1. Grease a large baking tin. 2. Put the butter and syrup Into a basin and place by the fire to warm. 3. Put the rest of the ingredients into the basin and beat thoroughly together with a wooden spoon. 4. Spread the mixture thinly on the baking tin. 5. Bake in a moderate oven for ten minutes.

6. Mark into squares about four inches across, with a knife, and leave for about a minute to cool slightly. 7. Lift the squares carefully, off the tin, and roll them round the handle of a wooden spoon. Work as quickly as you can to prevent the mixture from getting to stiff to roll.
