AT FRANKTON YARDS. BIQ RISE IN SHEEP. .fiS. . AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. Sheep quotations rose considerably at the weekly stock sale at the Frankton yards yesterday, there being an increase of 3s to 4s a head. Ox beef was firm at late rates and prime cow beef was firmer. The values for pigs showed little alteration. There was a medium yarding of sheep, a good yarding of beef and an average yarding of pigs. Farmers’ Auctioneering Company. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Company, ltd., report having held their weekly stock sale in the Frankton yesterday, when they penned a good yarding of fat sheep, which included a good entry of fat ewes. There was keen competition, and all classes showed an increase of fully 3s per head. Only a few pens of store sheep came forward, and these comprised in-lamb ewes and store hoggets. Satisfactory prices were realised. Ox beef came forward In larger numbers, with good quality in better demand, and showing a rise in values. Plain and unfinished remained unaltered. There was a smaller yarding of cow beef, with good quality in hotter demand, and selling at advanced rales. There was also a small yarding of fat pigs, and a heavy yarding of stores. Competition was keen on weaner pigs. Quotations: Prime fat wethers, 2ls Gd to 22s 3d, medium 18s Gd to 20s Id, lighter 14s 9d to 16s; prime fat ewes Lis Oil j to IGs, medium 22s Gd to 14s; fat j lambs. 14s Gd to IGs, lighter 10s to j 11s; ewes in lamb, 8s to 12s Gd. Prime runners, £3 11s to £4 4s; j vealers, 20s to 27s Gd; fat steers, medium £7 3s to £7 15s, light £6 2s to £7; fat cows, heavy £0 to £B, medium £4 16s to £5 10s, lighter £3 8s to £4; store cows, 22s Gd to 27s 6d; boners, 15s to £1; two-year empty Jersey heifers, 30s to 355. Light haconers, £2 15s to £3; heavy porkers £2 7s lo £2 11s, light 33s to £2 3s; stores, 25s to 30s; weaners, 16s to 235; sows and litters, £5 lo £3 ss; sows in pig, to £4 10s. Dalgety and Company, Ltd. Messrs Dalgety and Company Ltd., report- having held Iheir usual weekly stock sale at Frankton saleyards yesterday. Beef.—An average yarding including a good many fat bullocks. Prices for fat bullocks ruled on a par with late rates. Prime fat heifers and cows were a shade higher. We sold med-ium-weight bullocks at £6 15s to £7 7s Gd; light unfinished bullocks, £5 2s Gd, to £5 15s. Extra heavy prime young cows and heifers on account of E. W. R. Leslie made up to £7 17s Gd. Average fat cows and heifers, £4 10s to £5 12s 6d; light and Inferior fat cows £3 15s to £3 7s Gd. Store Cattle.—Only a small yarding. Young store cows made £2 to £2 15s; smaller store cows, 25s to 355; boner cows, 18s to 275; empty 2-year heifers, 35s to 42s Gd; others, 15s to 27s Gd. Fat Sheep.—A moderate yarding and prices again advanced sharply, making 2s to 3s per head above last week’s rates. Extra prime wethers and maiden ewes made up to 23s Gd; average quality fat wethers, 20s to 21s Gd; light, 18s; extra prime fat ewes, to 18s Gd; ordinary fat ewes, IGs; inferior fat ewes, 12s 9d to 14s; fat woolly lambs, extra good, 20s; heavy prime lambs, to 17s Gd; light and medium quality lambs, 12s to 14s. Store Sheep.—A fair yarding which met with keen competition at a decided rise of 2s to 3s per head on late rates. The following were our principal sales:—l26 6 and 8-tooth ewes in lamb to Southdown rams, 13s; 70 full-mouth ewes In lamb to Southdown rams, 9s; 140 4, 6 and 8-tooth ewes in lamb to Southdown and Leicester rams, 11s; 128 4, 6 and 8-tooth ewes in lamb to Romney rams, 13s 9d; 112 s.m. ewes in lamb to Romney rams. 11s Gd; 160 f.m. ewes in iamb lo Southdown and Leicester rams, 10s. Pigs.—A small yarding of fat pigs came forward with an extra large yarding of stores. We quote:—Best baconers, £3 4s to £3 9s; lighter, £2 19s to £3 4s; porkers, £2 to £2 14s; large stores, £i 4s to £1 10s; slips, 18s to £1 ss; weaners, 14s to 18s; sows, in pig, £4 to £5 10s. N.Z. Loan and Mercantile. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report having held their weekly stock sale at Frankton yards yesterday when a further sharp increase in last week’s advanced prices was obtained for fat ewes and wethers, The yarding being small, buyers competed freely to fill up their demands, especially on the prime quality sheep. About the usual number of fat lambs was penned and sold at prices on a par with late rates. Store sheep met with a good sale. Very prime wethers made up to £1 3s Gd, prime fat wethers, 17s Gd to £i, fat wethers IGs to 17s, others 14s to 15s Gd. prime fat ewes 16s. fat owes 12s In 15s, lighter do., its to 12s, fat lambs 12s Gd to Lis, lighter do., its to 13s 3d, store lambs 5s tOd to Gs lid, two-tooth ewes in lamb 15s Gd. Cattle: Ox beef met. with a duller market than at last week’s sale, a further decrease in values being quoted. The poorer demand was duo to the heavy yarding. There was brisk compelilion for row beef. Hie offering of which was smaller Ilian usual. Pigs: Values for baconers and porkers were a little easier than at last week’s sale. The yarding was about the usual. There was a good demand for a heavy yarding of stores and weaners, prices for which show an appreciable improvement on last week’s advanced rates. We quote: Prime baconers, £2 15s to £3 8s; fat baconers, £2 Gs to £2 Lis Gd; lighter baconers and heavy porkers, £1 13s to £2 ss; light porkers, £1 10s to £1 13s, choppers £2 17s Gd, good stores £1 4s to £1 9s Gd, other do., £1 to £1 3s Gd. slips 17s lo 19s Gd, weaners Lis Gd to IGs, sows £4 'l7s Gd. G. W. Vercoe and Co. Messrs G. W. Vercoe and Co., Ltd., report:—At our weekly stock sale at Frankton yards yesterday we had an average yarding of sheep. Competition was very keen throughout, and a sharp rise resulted, in some cases wethers advancing as high as 5s per head. A large yarding of ox and a small yarding of cow and heifer beef changed hands at late rates. On account of Mr J. A. Gower, of Gordonton, a draft of ten prime bullocks averaged £9 2s; the top price (£9 10s) being paid by Mr W. R. Shattoclc, Hamilton. On account of Messrs Norrish Bros., of Kaipakl, a draft of fat cows and heifers averaged £7 9s. Store cattle came forward in average numbers and maintained late quotations. The yarding of fat pigs was small and prices remained the same as last week. An extra heavy yarding of store pigs sold under keen competition, and slightly improved on last week’s values. CLEARING SALE AT TIRAU. The Farmers’ Go-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report having held a clearing sale at Tirau, on accounl of Mr IL Pcvreal. There was a good attendance of buyers, and competition was keen throughout. The whole herd of cows averaged £9 7s Gd, and llie heifers £B. Pigs: Slips, £1 4s; weaners, 14s. Sheep: Fat wethers, 15s Gd; twotooth ewes, running with rams, 13s 3d. Cattle: Jersey cows, in milk, £7 10s to £lO 3s; Jersey cows, early calvers. £8 10s lo £l2 ss; Jersey cows, later calvers, £3 10s to £7 10s; Jersey heifers, £7 to £9; Jersey heifer yearlings, £1 17s.
