The Farm. Several clearing sales have been held in the district recently. Bidding has bed'll quite brisk, although in keeping with the present low values. .Most dairymen seem to have room for a few more cows as each season commences. There is a keen demand for the useful stamp of farm horse, and horses of the active, walkaway type are bringing good money. Grass harrowing is in progress on most farms, and where this has already been done the touch of spring experienced during the last few days has had a noticeable effect on the growth.' Top-dressing is proceeding on a good many farms, superphosphate being used almost exclusively. The Roads. No doubt those controlling roads have a worrying job at this time of year, but it would seem that the only possible justification for using the grader to ser.Tpe loose metal and earth into wet pot-holes is that something must 1)0 done. Nevertheless, however corrugated a metal road may be, it Is infinitely better than a clay road, as many settlers in this district would readily admit just now. Ngata Sottlomont Scheme.
