DIVORCE ACTION.

WIFE DRIVEN FROM HOME. FIGHT TO KEEP lIER FAMILY. “He Is a misanthrope,” declared Mr J. F. Strang, in describing Alexander Turner Marshall, respondent in a divorce action at the Hamilton Supreme Court, to-day. Mr Strang was appearing for petitioner, Muriel Anna Marshall, who sought a divorce on the grounds ot desertion. There were three children of the marriage.

Mr Strang described the case as one in which the husband, who was a morose and unusual type of individual, had l'or years failed io provide his wil'e and family with a home or lo maintain them.

Petitioner said siie was marrieg in 1907. , Her husband had a farm at Kakahu, in the King Country. After he returned from the war his attitude towards her was lotally indifferent. Some years ago the farm house was destroyed by fire. Her husband then erected himself a tent, and provided no accommodalion l’or her and her three children. They were forced to leave the farm and fend for themselves, and in 1926 she came to Waikato with her children, since when she had maintained them and herself. She had not seen nor heard from her husband since 1920 and had received no maintenance from him. Ilis Honour: —But what brought about 'this stale of affairs?'

Mr Strang said he knew the man, who was a misanthrope, and was really im possible. A decree nisi to lie moved absolute in three months, was made.
