Shields, Wood, Lott, and Van Ryan have been selected as the United States Davis Cup team for the interzone finals at Paris. ENGLAND V. SOUTH AFRICA. FORMER WINS FIRST SINGLES. In the third round of the Davis Cup contest the first singles, in the Eng-land-South African match, were won by England. The scores were:— Austin (England) beat Kirby (South Africa), 6—2, 6—B* 2—6, 10—8, 6 — 3' Perry (England) beat Farquharson (South Africa), 6 —2, 6 —3, 6—3.
