STATE ECONOMIES.
(To the Editor). Sir,—There are a few grains or wisdom in the epistle of “Solomon," which appeared in your Tuesday’s issue; and I feci sure that many of your readers have been thinking along the same lines. There is little question that New Zealand lias been suffering long from a plethora of politicians who, of course, arc anxious to make their jobs secure and so aim to occupy a large space in the limelight in order to impress the gullible with a sense of their __ importance. 1 consider with “Solomon" that the pruning hook could, with advantage, he applied to the personnel of both Houses, and also to the Cabinet, which would mean considerable savings in numerous other connections and 1.« country would breathe much freer because of its lightened burden. The mailer is one which should receive the alienlion of the Associated Chambers or Commerce and other bodies which are in close touch with public affairs, and it could well be pressed to the forefront during Hie furlhcmmiig electioneering campsign —la^ Waharoa, June 2, 1931.
