AFFAIRS IN ITALY.

SCOUTS AND GUIDES DISBANDED. STATEMENT BY THE POPE. “SORROWFULLY RIDICULOUS.” United press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received June 4, 10.20 a.m.) ROME, June 3. In reference to the Government’s closing down of the Boy Scouts’ and Girl Guides’ organisations the Pope declared that it was sorrowfully ridiculous to even suspect the Girl Guides of anti-’Fascism. The newspapers reported that the dissolution of youth associations not connected with the Fascisti passed off without incident, but the indecencies, destructions, sequestrations and- vandalism throughout Italy, also offences against the 'Pontiff, would long be remembered.
