WINTER SHOW.

THE CLOSING SCENES. BIG HOLIDAY CROWD. THANKS TO THE PUBLIC. Last night saw the doors closed on the 25th annual Waikato Winter Show. The closing day was the best for attendances that the association has experienced this year., and during the afternoon and evening the crowds were very dense. The stallholders did good business, and 'the side-showmen made up some of the leeway of the past few days. At both the afternoon and evening sessions Mdlle. Michell repeated her daring trapeze act. Her performances were loudly applauded. The Reo Orchestra again gave a programme of excellent music. The hour-of closing was extended until 10.30, at which hour the people seemed loath to leave. Address by President. The president of the Show, Mr J. R. Fow, addressed the gathering prior to the close. He thanked all those people who had helped with labour and donations to make the Show the success it had been. Although the attendances on certain days might have been larger, the Show Association had realised that it could no go on for ever creating records, and that, in times of general adversity, such as were at present being experienced, a check must be expected. Mr Fow referred to the financial depression and slid the association would be well satisfied this year if it managed to come through without a loss. He thought he could safely say this result had been achieved. (Applause.) The speaker paid a tribute to the faithful body of men and women who year after year gave their services ungrudgingly to the public, and through whose efforts the Waikato Winter Show had grown to the proportions and had earned the reputation it had. (Applause).

Comments by the Mayor. “ The 25th. Waikato Winter Show has run its course," said His Worship the Mayor (Dr. F. D. Pinfold), “but lives in history and becomes part of the volume deallpg with the activities of the whole of the Waikato. It had been a successful show and the executive were proud of it. It mattered not whether they counted success in terms of financial magnitude or whether they considered it in relation to the achievements of its objective. In either case the show had been successful for this institution was an example of co-operation between farmers and townspeople. Those of us who worked for unanimity and inter-, change of ideas between rural and urban sections were glad to see what could be done when all worked for the common good.” His Worship 'thanked the public for its patronage.

TO HELP THE BLIND. 100 GUINEAS TAKEN AT STALL. One hundred guineas represents the takings at the Blind Stall at the Winter Show. Considering the hardship that so many people are suffering it shows a generous and practical interest in the blind folk on the part of Waikato friends. Thanks to the kindness of the Winter Show officials, and the capable and willing service of girl students from Brain’s Commercial College, as well as others, 'the expenses of running the stall were nil.
