Tallow.—Market quiet and quotations nominally unchanged. Hemp.—Manilla market dull and about steady. “K” grade for ilayJuly and June-August shipment quoted £l6 10s sellers. Sisal: Market steadier. Closing value No. 1 good marqs for May-July and June- August shipment £ls 15s. Fair average quality £ls 10s. New Zealand. Market quiet and quotations nominally unchanged. No first hand sales reP °Fruit.—Market practically cleared. Cornwall and Rangitane consignments now being delivered. Curren . t prices are:—Apples: Jonathan and Slurmer, 11s to 13s; Delicious and Premier, 10s 6d to 12s. Pears: Winter Nelis and Winter Cole, 10s 6d to 14 fp eas . _ Market firmer. English Maple are meeting a better enquiry, best samples asking 34s to Jos, choice old making up to 43,f----ported kinds more active. A ffraae Tasmanian for June shipment sold early this week at o2s 6d and New Zealand No. 1 Partridge afloat reported to be sold at 52s 6d. Blues. “A" grade for May-June Shipment sold at £8 15s. LONDON MEAT MARKET. The New Zealand Meat Board has been advised as follows regarding the conditions on the London meat market: — - Lamb market continues very firm with Improved prices; demand Is improving, especially for second quality; consumption satisfactory. Mutton Market—Wethers and ewes : Market is steady at better prices, but higher prices inclined to check demand. , . Beef Market. —There Is no enquiry for frozen beef. New Zealand Porker Pigs.—Demand is only poor, owing to warm weather. New Zealand Baconer Pigs.—Nominal prices; Continental bacon In over supply, selling at low prices. OLEARING SALE AT TE KOWHAI. The Farmers’ Co-operative AucLtd., report having held a clearing sale yesterday on account of Mr W. J.. Dewhurst, Te Kowhal. There was a fair attendance of buyers and competition was fair throughout. The whole herd of 54 cows averaged £6 15s. Tamworth sows in pig £2 5s to £4; Young Jersey Cows, well forward In calf, £8 to £lO 10s; older and more backward cows, £6 to£7 15s; unsound cows, £2 10s to £4 ss; Jersey heifers, £5 to £G; lielfer CalvbS, £2 Bs.
