UNEMPLOYED RELIEF.
THE NO. 5 SCHEME. POSSIBILITY OF STOPPAGE. AUCKLAND, Saturday. At a meeting of the Otahuhu Borough Council Mr F, W. Gray said the No. 5 scheme had been discussed with Ihe Hon. S. O. Smith, Minister of Labour, and it was gathered that there was every likelihood of the scheme being cancelled. The, abrupt termination of the scheme ' would leave the council, and many other local bodies, with partly-finished works which would entail considerable expense to complete from revenue. In fairness to local bodies some indication should he given of the board's intentions.
