WAIKARE
Dramatic Society,
The Waiterimu Dramatic Society held an executive meeting with Mr R. Ward in the chair and Miss A. Turner as secretary. It was decided to hold a concert in June. Several plays were considered and three were chosen.
Proposed Amalgamation. The local footballers travelled to Te Hoe on Thursday to hold a meeting to discuss the amalgamation of the two clubs for the coming season. Farmers’ Union.
A meeting of the Farmers’ Union was held, with Mr J. T. Grundy in the chair and Mr S.. W. lies as secretary. -After several remits were read the balance-sheet of the show accounts was presented and showed a creditable balance.
The committee made its usual handsome donation to the hall funds.
Rifle Club.
The E. J. Powell cup of the Waikare Rifle Club was won for February by Mr C. Fortune, of Te Hoe, with a score of 59 on the 200 and 300 yards range. Mr 11. Dickenson was runnerup with a score of 58. New Bridge.
The bridge being constructed over the Taniwha Greek is expected to be completed in about six weeks. Earthquake Fund.
The Gaiety Girls held their second annual ball in the Waiterimu-Matahuru Hall the other evening. Music was supplied by Mr Allan's Orchestra and £l2 was cleared to send the relief fund.
