FIRE BOARD.
THE QUARTERLY MEETING. AT TE AWAMUTU The quarterly meeting of the newly constituted Te Awamutu Fire Board was held at Te Awamutu, when Messrs C. G. Downes and H. C. Rainey represented the Te Awamutu Borougn Council, Messrs G. Nevill and 11. Duncan were the insurance representatives, and Mr D. McArthur the Government representative. The secretary, Mr. G. O. Jourdaln, and Superintendent Morris were also present. A vote of condolence with Fireman Loomb on his recent sad bereavement was carried In the usual manner. Mr Downes was re-elected chairman, and on his motion a letter of thanks and appreciation for the good work done during his term of nearly four years will be sent to Mr C. A. Reilly, who was recently replaced by Mr Rainey; The chairman then welcomed Mr Rainey to the board. The Medical Superintendent, Tokanui, wrote thanking the board for Its offer of assistance. It was decided that ho be advised that the terms proposed are a nominal retaining fee of £1 Is per annum, and also all wages Incurred by the board, and any out-of-pocket expenses or damage suffered by the board’s property. Inspector Hugo’s report, which was very satisfactory, was received. It stated: “The required inspection drills were carried out in a smart and efficient manner and the station and equipment were found in good and proper order.” The board decided to congratulate the superintendent and the men on the success of their work. Superintendent’s Report. The Superintendent's report was adopted, and he was also congratulated on his control of the brigade. Congratulations were extended to Fireman Loomb on his completion of seven years’ service with the brigade. The brigade were commended for their excellent attendance at practices. The financial statement was adopted and accounts totalling £lO2 15s Id were passed for payment.. It was decided to purchase a siren for the fire station. The Annual Meeting. The annual meeting was then held, xvhen Mr C. G. Downes was reelected chairman Tne salaries of the Superintendent and Deputy were increased from £2O and £lO to £3O and £ls per annum. Estimates for the ensuing year were approved, and certain small improvements to the fire station were authorised.
