Messrs MacDonald and Snowden and other members of the Cabinet met representatives of the National Confederation of Employers and discussed the possibility of taking action to maintain good relationships with a view to getting through the present depression without industrial conflicts. The employers stated that no words from the Government could deepen their Impression of the gravity of the economic situ- t atlon. The Ministers subsequently met representatives of the Trade Union Council.
