SWIMMING.
CARNIVAL LAST EVENING HAMILTON LADIES’ CLUB. The Hamilton Ladies’ Swimming Club held a very successful carnival in the municipal baths last evening. There was a large attendance and some close and exciting finishes were witnessed. The swimming generally was of a high order and the officials concerned are to ’be congratulated on the 'splendid way the function was conducted. The following were the results: — 33 1-3 yards for Hcrlverl Smith Trust Cup.—First heat: G. Gaze (5 sec) 1, E. Kerfool (6) 2, I. Joyce (3) 3; time, 28see. Second heal: J. Lambert (5) J, B. Aitken (5) 2; lime, 26'sec. Third heat: B. Murtagh (scr) 1, S. Ladd (2) 2, D. Felix (3) 3; time, 27sec. Final: C. Gaze and E. Kerl'oot (equal) 1, J. Lambert 3; time, 27sec. South Auckland 75 Yards Championship.—M. Ensor (Morrinsville) 1, H. Gaze (Hamilton Ladies) 2, I. Hobbs (Hamilton Ladies) 3. Time, 55see. 33 1-3 Yards, under 17. —First heat: E. McNicol (scr) 1, J. Milroy (2sec) 2, M. Barton (3) 3; time, 25 sec. Second heat: B. Murtagh (2) i, V. Frericks (scr) 2, E. llonhs 3; time, 25sec. Final: J. Milroy 1, B. Murtagh 2, E. McNicol 3; time, 24 2-5 see. 66 2-3 Yards Open.—N. Barton (4 sec) 1, I. Habibs (1) 2, H. Gaze (scr) 3. Time, 56sec. 33 1-3 Yards, over 17.—J. Gaze (3 sec) 1, E. Watson (2) 2, 1. Hobbs (3) 3. Time, 24 2-5 sec. The two relays were very exciting and popular events. The inter-club relay for the Whineray Banner was won by Morrinsville, with High School a close second. Old Girls were third. The inter-house relay was won by the Pessimists; the Futurists were second and Optimists third. A novelty event, a granny race, caused a lot of amusement. The competitors had to dive in clothed, undress in the water when they reached the other side of the baths, and swim back again. I. Joyce won this event; M.?Greenslade was second, and J. Sorenson third. The diving was «f a very high standard and resulted:—l. Hobbs 1, B.' Murtagh 2, E. Watson 3. At the conclusion of the programme there was a 66 2-3 yards race for the men officials. This resulted: N. Ross and E. McLachlin (dead heat) 1; D. Mailns, M. "West, P. West (equal), 2.
