BRICK BUILDINGS

STRINGENT BY-LAWS URGED. MEN THROWN OUT OF WORK. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Thursday. “It will be to the benefit of all brickmakers to have a universal set of bylaws, with stringent clauses as far as workmanship is concerned, where brick is being use, for builuing purposes,” said the managing director of a large brick manufacturing firm to-day. He added that even with llic existing trade depression the company in the last two years had had a greater share of the business than ever before. No tendency to stop building in brick had been noticed. Owing to Hie slackness in the building trade approximately 250 men have been thrown out of employment by the closing of some nf the company’s works in the last few months.
