CARNIVAL AT LAKE.
FOR EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND. SUM OF £ll6 REALISED. The Lake Improvement Gala Committee met last evening, Mr H. Beebe occupying the chair. The committee placed, on record its appreciation of the action of the Hamilton Domain'Board in offering to forego its claim on the proceeds, in the face of the Hawke’s Bay disaster, and recommending that the total profits be handed to the Earthquake Relief Fund. As a result the cause will benefit to the extent of £ll6. It is hoped by the committee that should it be decided to hold a carnival for the lake improvements at a later date the public will respond in the same generous manner. A further expression of appreciation was recorded to all those who so willingly assisted the cause by placing their services at the disposal of the committee. The honorary treasurer, Mr G. Boyes, was- authorised to pay over immediately £IOO.
