THE NAPIER EARTHQUAKE
RE-CONSTRUCTION OF NAPIER. PAPER AT ORDINARY SIZE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, Wednesday. An interesting sidelight in connection with the reconstruction of Napier is the fact that the Napier Daily Telegraph, which on the clay following the earthquake appeared as a one-page sheet, no bigger than a piece of ordinary notepaper, appeared on Saturday with a four-page issue of ordinary newsprint size, and from to-day commenced I lie issue of an eight-page paper daily. ISSUE OF PERMITS. REGULATIONS AT HASTINGS. <Bv Telegraph.—Press Association.) HASTINGS, Wednesday. In connection with general repatriation to 'the devastated area, the Hastings authorities desire it to he clearly understood that permits to return, through police tickets and other permits now in existence, do not entitle a refugee to a free railway journey hack. The railway will accept only a special permit, clearly laying out the purpose for which it is issued, and signed by the officer in charge of the central registration. Insofar as Hastings and vicinity are concerned, a further announcement will be made as to the procedure to obtain general repatriation permits. HOSPITAL LISTS. lIATINGS, Wednesday. The name of Mrs. G. Scott, ulipliant Road, in the Hastings casualty list, should be Miss Jean Scott. PALMERSTON’S CONTRIBUTION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., Wednesday. Donations to the relief fund exceed £IOOO, including £250 from the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association.
