STRIKE AT GLEN AFTON

MASS MEETING HELD, SETTLEMENT UNLIKELY. 1 (Special to Times.) HUNTLY, Wednesday. A mass meeting of the employees of . the Glen Afton Collieries Miners’ Union members was held this morning in Iluntly, and lasted until well after mid-day. No definite decision was arrived at regarding the present trouble, but the whole matter will be investigated by the District Miners’ Council of the North Island. The president of that body, Mr William Davidson, of Hikurangi, arrived from the north by sepcial motor last night. Proceedings this morning were stated to be of acrimonious nature. Although no details of the proceedings -are available to the press it is understood that there is little prospect of an early settlement.
