ANNUAL MEETING CLOSED. SIR MONO TAKES THE PRESIDENT’S BOROUGH TO SIR RUSSELL. SUB-EDITOR’S HACK CUP WIN. The Rotorua Racing Club’s annual meeting was concluded yesterday in fine weather before a good attendance for an off day. Although the fields were small in some of the events the racing was interesting. Three first favourites scored, the other winners being at fair prices with Gristobel, Laptown, in double figures. Sir Mond, who had .won the Cup on the first day, also annexed the principal event, the President's Handicap, yesterday, while the sprint honours, in the Borough Handicap, went to Sir Russell and Sub-Editor scored in the Ohinemutu Hack Cup. The Tarawera Highweight Handicap brought out five runners, Sub-Editor being the withdrawal. Smithfleld was a solid favourite witli £l5O more than Master Armour. •• The outsider Crist oh el won by half a length from Mnsquin, with Smithfleld third and Master Armour next. The one dividend was of double figure proportions. In tiie Flying Stakes the nine acceptors were saddled up, Rangikaha, carrying £2O more than Silene, being favourite. The welt supported fourth fancy, Gay Lap, won by calf a length from Rangikaha, who heat. Abbey Dream by a similar margin. Silene. was fourth. There were, seven runners in the Ohinemuln Hack Cup Handicap. Protomint being the only withdrawal. Sub-Editor, ridden by It. Gray, was £J37 better fancied than Valreina, with Gold Lily next in request. SubEditor scored freely by half a length from Steady Fire, with Indolent, a length and a half further oft, just in front of Gold Lily. The Chief Event of the Day. Ti Tree was missing from the President’s Handicap, the chief event, m which there were five runners. Sir Mond, the Cup winner, who had Gray’s services was £53 better fancied than Mosque, with Clopton next in demand. Sir Mond answered demands nicely, having half a length to spare over Cruachan at tiie end of the mile. Clopton was a head away, third, and Standfast and Mosque as named. Eight two-year-olds paraded for Ihe Rennie Stakes, Lady Musk being scratched. < Columba was hacked down to odds on with £707 more than Titanette. They finished as selected. with a length between them. Queen Arpa was a length and a hall' further off and Lady Vane fourth. The Electric Handicap saw ten hacks go to the post, Catch cm and \Yamboin, who had started earlier, being the defections. Protomint was a solid first choice with £273 more than Marechal and Trickle, who-were evenly supported. Tiie fourth favourite, Laptown, won by a long head from Searcher, with Marechal third and Protomint the closest of the remainder. Tho Sprinters In Action. The eight carded came out for the Borough Handicap, the sprint race of the day in which Royal Ruler was £lO better thought of than lloniton, while Refresher was third in demand. Sir Russell, who was fourth favourite, won by a length from the seventh choice, Steady Fire, with Refresher third and Prince Yal fourth. lloniton, who was interfered with in Hie running. bled in the race. With Refresher absent, five contested the Farewell Handicap. Ti Tree was £l7 better supported than Sir Mond, who was raised from 7.13 fo 8.7 for his win in the President's Handicap. The third favourite, Yolimond, scored by a length over Sir Mond, with Ti Tree a length and a half further away. Black Maire beat Tetrachate for fourth place.
