SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL. NEW BY-LAWS ADOPTED. The special meeting of the Te Tt Awamutu Borough Council to deal with the adoption of the new by-laws was held last evening, when the Mayor, Mr C. G. Downes, presided and there were also present Crs. A. Brown, C. A. Finch, G. Gifford, F. J. Gilbert, H. C. Rainey and G. Spinley. The town clerk, Mr D. Borkot, was also present. After reading a summary of the new by-laws they were finally adopted. As this was all the special business, the council resumed the ordinary meeting which had been adjourned from the previous Monday. The first business dealt with was the request from the three auctioneering companies ' using the J .rough sale yards for a reduction in t...j rent charged. The clerk read the financial statement for the financial year to date. In tlie discussion it was felt that the present economic conditions demanded some reductions, and it was decided to reduce the rent for the coming year to £3OO, the matter to be reviewed at the end of the corning financial year.
