PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE.
E. Hendren, the English cricketer now making his first trip to South Africa, where is is a leading run getter for his side, frequently makes fun of his short stature, but says it has advantages. Playing for Middlesex against Notts on Lord’s Ground, Larwood was making the ball fly on a crumbling pitch. Hendren played forward and the ball touched his cap, cleared the wicket-keeper, and hit the pavilion on the half volley. Since then Hendren has never doubted that Larwood is fast.
