SEQUEL TO OOLLISION. ALLEGED CARELESSNESS. (By Telegraph.—rress Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. A case is proceeding in the Supreme Court in which Ernest Drew is claiming £274 8s Gd special and £2500 general damages arising out of a collision between plaintiff’s motorcycle and a car driven by defendant, Godfrey Power Clapcott, insurance inspector of Masterton, near Kauwarra on December 24. Both parties claim that the accident was due to the carelessness of the other. “In all my experience I have never seen so large a sum claimed for an injury. The amount seems to me to be altogether unreasonable,” said Mr Justice Ostler. The jury returned a unanimous verdict awarding the plaintiff £263 18s Gd special damages and £l5O general damages.
