DOLE MILK FRAUD
“A GHASTLY BUSINESS.” “This is a ghastly business,” was the comment of Mr Laidlaw, S.M., at New'town Court, when Gregory McCue, of Marrickville, was charged on two counts with having sold shortweight milk to customers on the dole (says a Sydney paper). McCue was fined £lO in each case. Inspector Degotardi said that one of the victims was served seven fluid ounces short and the other 6:} ounces short.* The customers were both on the dole, and the milk was paid for by the Government. A youth delivered the milk. Defendant when questioned said that the boy was given sufficient milk to supply all customers. William Gray, of Stanmore, was also fined £5, • with 8s costs, for having sold short-measure milk.
