VESSEL, UNDER ARREST.
SEQUEL TO A COLLISION. FRENCH DEMAND FOR DAMAGES. AGENT’S GUARANTEE DECLINED. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. LONDON, Nov. 5. A message from Nantes states that the Papanui, bound from Port Pirie to Avonmouth, collided with a lighter and two tugs at the St. Nazaire docks. The steamer was undamaged, but the lugs were slightly, and the lighter seriously damaged. The Papanui was about to sail today w'hen the owners of the tugs and lighter demanded 100,000 francs as damages. This was not provided, though the agent offered his personal guarantee pending an arrangement with the underwriters. The vessel w r as therefore arrested.
