The first regular air mail service between Christchurch and Dunedin commenced to-day', when Squadron Leader McGregor left Wigram Aerodrome carrying three passengers and a bag of mail. DUNEDIN, Thursday. A De Haviland 4-seater plane, inaugurating the tri-weekly passenger service Christchurch to Dunedin, reached the Taieri Aerodrome at 12.5 p.m., after a flight of 2 hours 35 minutes. There was a head wind all the way, and dirty weather between Christchurch and Ashburton, but after that splendid conditions prevailed. Squadron Leader McGregor stated that the route was ideal for the service on account of the plentitude of suitable landing places. The passengers were Mr T. L. Hathaway, of Auckland, and two pressmen.

The plane returns to Christchurch this afternoon.
