The flight Hon. J. G. Coates, Leader of the Opposition, arrived in Auckland yesterday and left for Dargaville this morning.
The Cathay arrived at Fremantle yesterday. Among her passengers is Dame Nellie Melba.
Mr. E. Lewis, of Rugby, England, is among the guests at the Hamilton Hotel.
Mr Dynes Fulton, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Cobperative Dairy Company, Ltd., returned from Sydney by the Marama yesterday.
Dr. C. J. Reakes, Director-General of Agriculture, is at the Hamilton HotM. He arrived at Hamilton this morning and left for Te Ivauwhata, returning this afternoon.
Mr J. A. Young, M.P., will leave for Mangowai, North Auckland, on Friday. He expects to return for the opening of the Summer Show at Claudelands
Messrs W. H. Fingey, H. Jones, S. C. Reid (Auckland), F. E. W. Tuviell, J. ' G. Irving (Wellington), W. B. White (Hawera), L. J. W. Gardner (New Plymouth), and W. Lorell (liavvera), are at the Hamilton Hotel.
Mr H. E. Holland, M.P., Leader of the Labour Party, motored to Frankton from Huhtly yesterday, following the conference of miners at Rotowaro. He joined the Limited express for Wellington.
Rev. Athol R. Penn, formerly of Cambridge, now stationed at St. Glair, Dunedin ,has accepted an invitation to take charge of the Motueka ((Nelson) circuit next April, subject to confirmation of the Methodist Conference, which sits in February.
Mr Don Bradman, who left the other members of the cricket team at Fremantle and came across Australia by aeroplane, reached his home at Bowral yesterday. t , He was met by his relatives and a large crowd of people.
Mr and Mrs C. Lafferty, of Hamilton, have Had an interesting Continental tour, embracing France, Germany, Switzerland, Holland and Italy, writes a London correspondent. They were at Oberammergau for the Passion Play. They returned to London a few days ago. and will leave by the Mooltan on their return journey.
‘ One of the youngest bishops in the Roman Catholic Church, Dr. T. J. Wade, who was recently consecrated Bishop of the North Solomon Islands, arrived at Auckland by the Marama yesterday on a short visit to the Dominion before returning to take up his work in the mission field. Bishop Wade, who is 37 years of age, ;s a member -of the Marist order.
At the annual meeting of the Drury-Bombay-Pukekohe East Presbyterian charge arrangements were niade for presenting to the Presbytery at Auckland 'a call to Mr D. MCattanach to become minister of the charge, in succession to the Rev. John Hubbard, who accepted a call to Ivelburn, Wellington, some months ago.
Mr Colin A. MacDonald, who has been acting as manager for the Bank of New South Wales at Cambridge for the past two months, will leave on Monday to resume charge of the bank’s*High Street branch at Christchurch. Mr A. J. Law, the newly- - appointed manager to th,e Cambridge : branch will arrive next Saturday, from Bulls.
