ARMISTICE DAY
TWO MINUTES’ SILENCE. STRICT OBSERVANCE URGED. The usual arrangements have been made at Hamilton for the observance of Armistice Day next Tuesday. Hopes will be general that the two minutes’ silence this year will be a reality and will not develop into the farce which characterised that period of solemn rememberance in this town last year. It will be recalled that following the fire-brigade siren tw’O minutes before 11 o'clock there was practically no cessation of traffic and very few citizens appeared to recognise the moral obligation to stand motionless as a .mark of respect to the fallen. Recently the King reiterated his appeal that all vehicular" traffic, with the exception of rail [ and water transport, be suspended for two minutes. The siren will be heard again on Tuesday. Several of the local churches will hold special services. Ceremony a: .uucklend. Arrangements for a service at the Cenotaph in front of the War Memorial Museuip on Armistice Day have been nomoleted at Auckland.
