NEW SCALE ANNOUNCED, STATEMENT BY BANKS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The chairman of the Associated Banks announces‘ that as from tomorrow the following rates of exchange, New Zealand and Australia, will be charged:— Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania and South Australia. —Buying, £95 12s 6d per cent.; selling,. £IOO ss. Queensland. —Buying, £95 10s per cent.; selling, £IOO 7s 6d. North of Rockhampton: £95 5s and £IOO 12s 6d. Western Australia.—Perth and Fremantle: Buying, £95 ss; selling, £IOO 12s 6d. other places: £95 and £IOO 17s 6d. A concession of 82s 6d per cent, will be allowed on the buying rates for all ordinary trade transactions. Full rates without any concessions will be charged'hn all bills, cheques, orders, etc., drawn on Australia, the proceeds of which are intended to be utilised for the purpose of buying London exchange from banks in New Zealand or otherwise. Transactions involving the investment of Australian funds in New Zealand will also be charged full rates. No change has been made in the selling rates. The buying rates have been reduced by 50 per cent, in all cases.- The “ blocking rate” has been successively increased from 20s in March to 32s- 6d in April, and now to 82s 6d.
