AWKWARD YOUNG THINGS
Young aqimals, with the exception of piglings, all look very awkward when they are newly born. Take for instance the foal. However fine an outlook or body it has, at first it appears to be all legs, and the same remark . applies to a calf, however coloury it may be. There are, too, few things more ungainly than a newborn lamb that at first seems to be all legs, tail and head, with comparatively little body to speak of. Now, young pigs are neat and compact, close to the ground, and with well-filled out, plump little bodies, and they certainly attract the eye. See the foal, call' or. lamb a little later on, however, when they have had time to fill out, and it is difficult to remember how awkward they were when newly born, and it is still more difficult to decide which of them is the most beautiful.
