INSTITUTE FOR BLIND.

RESULT OF BAND’S TOUR. GRATITUDE FOR ASSISTANCE. The following letter has been received by Mr T. B. Booth, of Hamilton, from Mr Clutha Mackenzie, director of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind:— T It is now nearly a fortnight since we returned from our very success- I ful band tour of the North Island, j Everywhere we met with the greatest hospitality, and were also privileged I to have big and enthusiastic houses. We fully attained our objective of making many friends for our community and our work, and we think that there is, as a result, a greater appreciation of the cheerfulness and active efficiency which characterise trained ■ blind people. * Though we were ma“king no appeal for money, and .our. prices were low, so large were the attendances and so small ttfe costs (owing to the liberal hospitality of our hostsj that the results are most satisfactory. The net receipts from the 27 centres amount to £897 18s 9d. From this, there will be a deduction of approximately £l5O for travelling and incidental expenses, leaving a substantial balance for future musical work. “ The net amount received from .Hamilton was £5-2 16s 10d- We greatly appreciate the low figure for the expenses. We should be grateful if you would convey to the public, through the Press, the hearty thanks of the trustees of the Institute and the members of the party, for the warm welcome Hamilton gave them. We should like too, to say how grateful we are to you personally, to the members of the Rotary Club, and the.. Hamilton Band, to the Boy Scouts, to the Press, to our good hosts and hostesses, and to everyone else who contributed towards making our visit the success it was.” ■
