WALTON SCHOOL.
CONCERT AND DANCE. A concert and dance was held in the Walton Hall to raise funds 1 for a piano for the school, under the conduotorship of the assistant teacher (Miss Wohlman). The hall was packed with parents and friends, and each item was much appreciated and encores were the feature of the evening. The programme was as follows: — Song, senior pupils; dance, senior girls; song, Rev. Turner (Matamata) ; nursery rhyme, Ist and 2nd primers, Shoemakers’ Dance, primers; song, senior pupils; humorous ventriloquial item, Rev. Turner and Claude; song, “ junior pupils; song, Mr. Echlin (Morrinsville); piano duet, Mrs. Shirley and Mr. von Sturmer; playette; “Cinderella,” a modern version toy the children —W. Portland, A. Parlane, M. Johnstone, M. Lock, L. Black, J. Robertson. Dancing brought a most enjoyable evening to a close. During supper, Mr. J. B. Nicholls, chairman of the school committee, thanked all those who had assisted Miss Wohlman in making the concert a success, especially Mesdames Given, Hillier and Shirley, for their invaluable assistance in coaching the children. A motion proposed by Mr. W. E. Miles, that the audience express its appreciation .of the work done by Miss Wohlman, the ladies who assisted, and the committee, was carried by acclamation.
