MEETING AT TE AROHA. Mr G. Rayner presided at the monthly meeting of the Chamber. A letter was read from the Railway Department, staling it had been foundnecessary from an economic point of view to withdraw the Frankton-Paeroa midnight train The Auckland Chamber wrote urging support of the Chamber of Commerce journal.—lt was decided to continue the subscription. The question of increased freights on the railways for certain classes of goods required by the farmers was discussed. The president said the railways had been selling their services under cost, and now proposed to sell at a profit. While of the opinion that the position was serious, he thought it better for the Chamber to refrain from passing a resolution at the present time.
