OBSCENE LANGUAGE USED. OLD OFFENDER SENT TO GAOL. (By TfUegranh.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. For drunkenness, resisting the police, and using obscene language, Patrick Byrne, with many previous convictions, was sentenced to six months’ hard labour at Lyttelton this morning. The police said Byrne resisted so violently that he had to' be thrown to the ground and handcuffed and then lifted on to a lorry by three constables.
