SALE OF WORK.

SUCCESSFUL ORGANISATION. A most successful sale of work organised by an energetic ladies’ committee was held in the Te Rapa Hall on Wednesday, September 3. The official opening took place at 1.30 p.m. by his Worship the Mayor of Hamilton, Mr J. R. Fow. Through the generosity of mos.t of the residents of the’district, the stalls were well filled, and being beautifully decorated made a most attractive display. The following were in charge of the various stalls:; —Plain sewing, Mrs Harwood and Mrs ilnnes Jones; fancy sewing, Mrs A. .B. Green and Mrs A. W. Green; produce, Mrs W. N. Smith and Mrs R. Church; sweets, Mrs A. Holmes and Mrs Primmer; cakes, Mrs Blunt; parcels, Mrs A. Johnston; magic pump, Mrs Barber. Afternoon tea was in charge of Mrs E. Bath, assisted by Miss J. Smith and Miss Malcolm. The gaily decorated donkey in charge of Allan Harwood gave great delight to the little ones and also helped to augment the funds.

In the guessing competitions, which were in charge of Mrs Kemble, the following were successful: —Cushion, Mr Buckenham; oil painting, Mrs Blunt; weight of sheep, Mrs Payne, Mr J. Johnston and Mr L. Reid tied; rooster, Mr Innes Jones; cakes, Mrs Bath and Mrs Jary, Mr W. McDowell and Mr A. Holmes; bridal doll, Mrs Barber; toy elephant, Mrs W. N. Smith; box of chocolates, Miss D. Holmes; naildriving, Mrs Primmer and Mr Hooper. Through the liberal support that was afforded to the stallholders, the magnificent sum of £52 was realised. A dance brought a pleasant evening to a'finish. The music was kindly suppled ' ■; Mr A. Hooper.
