In the Davis Cup Lott (America) defeated Stefan! (Italy) 6—3, 6—l; 6—3. Morpurgo beat Allison, 7—5, 6—2, 5—7, 6—4. The United States thus won four out of the five games. AMERICA TO CHALLENGE. PARIS, July 19. ■ In the final of the interzone play in the Davis Cup contest America has defeated Italy by winning the first three matches. The singles match, Lott (America) v. de Morpurgo (Italy), which was abandoned yesterday owing to the light, was concluded to-day when Lott won the fourth set, 6—o. In the doubles Allison and van Ryn defeated de Morpurgo and Gasilini, s—• 7, 6 —2, 6 —4, I—6, 6—3.
