SHUNTER KILLED

IN TIMARU RAILWAY YARD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TIMARU, Friday. In the Timaru railway yards this afternoon, a shunter, John Ewart Milne, a married man, with three young lived in Watlinglon, was killed. ■ It is believed that deceased was engaged in shunting operations at the time, and that he stepped behind two trucks for the purpose of lifting the couplings. His left foot apparently became jammed between the points and his leg was completely severed just below the knee. The right wheel of the truck immediately behind passed over him, and dragged him along Ihe rails. He received internal injuries from which he died in the hospital.
