ORINI.
Ladies’ Guild. The Ladies’ Guild held their gathering at the residence of Mrs Houghten, Orini Road. Competitions were held, one of them particularly, the compiling of an Orini newspaper, causing considerable amusement. Winners of prizes for the afternoon were Mesdames W. I. Preest, 0. B.
Preest, Geo. Weed, and P. J. Mourant. Musical items by Mesdames Preest, Mourant, and Miss Houghten were thoroughly enjoyed. Altogether the afternoon was one of the most successful held so far this winter. The Weather. The heavy rain of the week-end caused considerable flooding in the Mangawara and Tauhei streams, and in several places the water is three and four feet over the roads. The service car from Taupiri to Hamilton was unable to follow the usual route, and the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company’s cream Irrry was also held up.
