TROTTING CONFERENCE.

OTAHUHU-AUCKLAND MERGER. AGREEMENT ENDORSED. - ELECTION OF OFFICERS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The annual Trotting Conference was held to-day. , It was decided to approve of the proposed merger of the Otahuhu and Auckland Clubs in terms of the draft agreement; also to approve of the issue to the Auckland Club of the existing totalisator permits and other rights and privileges whatsoever of the Otahuhu Club and that all future consideration of permits of the Auckland Club shall be viewed by the conference in the right of and with due regard to the merger of the Otahuhu Club. Rules 12 and 104 were amended to specifically apply in this instance to the two clubs. Several amendments were made to various rules on various grounds. In regard to several remits with reference to amending the handicapping rules, the chairman said that while the present system was responsible for too many complaints to be regarded as satisfactory, he maihtained that the penalty on horses should be definitely fixed by the conference and after a discussion the conference decided to carry on the present system until July 31.

Officers were elected as under: President, Mr. H. F. Nicoll (Ashburton) ; vice-president, Mr. Rowe (Auckland) ; executive, Messrs. Ollivier, Irwin and H. R. MacKenzie.
