L. Kelly, the manager, expressing the dissatisfaction of the Australian cricketers at having to play sucli a strong county as Yorkshire immediately following a test match, says: “ We had to rush direct from Lord’s in order to catch a train for Bradford. We had a long, tiring journey.” I-le says that many features of the arrangements do not satisfy him, and he intends to recommend that the Board of Control should stipulate in further tours there should he at least a day’s rest after each test match. Mr Kelly contends that it is unfair to expect the Australians to play highclass, attractive cricket in a county match immediately after the tremendous strain of a desperate test match struggle. The players are physically and mentally tired, and ought to have time to recuperate. Mr Kelly hopes that somebody more directly in touch with Australian cricket than the present representative, Mr r. 11. Mallctt, will he responsible for the arrangement of the next tour.
