Dr. Tracey Inglis, Messrs A. Wells, J. R. Spicer, A. S. Horsley, R. G. Leyden, H. H. Brinkman, F. Pope (Auckland), and N. F. Fulton (Taranaki) are at the Hamilton Hotel.
Mr S. Saunders, the well-known journalist, of Wellington, who has been in a private hospital during the past four weeks, was operated upon on Saturday morning. He is progressing satisfactorily.
A farewell was tendered to the Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher, who will leave shortly on a world tour to carry out evangelical work, at the Berestord Street Congregational Church, Auckland. On behalf of the church, Mr C E. Campbell, the senior deacon, presented Mr Fletcher with a fountain pen and pocket wallet.
At a meeting of the Auckland Presbytery yesterday a call was received from the congregation of St. Andrew’s, Wairoa, Hawke’s Bay, to the Rev. T. A. Speer, of Waiuku. Mr Speer intimated his willingness to accept the call, which was then placed in his hands. A farewell was given at Cambridge to Mr Lester Sinclair, the popular manager of the Cambridge Theatre, who has been transferred to Wliangarei. The deputy-mayor, Mr W. G. Care, referred to Mr Sinclair’s interest in the welfare of the town and presented him with ajramed address. On behalf of the ex-Service Men’s Association, Mr T. Hampshire presented Mr Sinclair with a solid silver cigarette case.
