FARMERS’ UNION.

morrinsville branch. LECTURE BY MR STEPHENS. The Morrinsville Branch of the Farmers’ Union met on Saturday evening, when Mr P. B. Stephens, of ihe Workers’ Educational Association, delivered his second lecture of the series arranged by the Farmers Union, the subject being “The Effects of Protection from an Economist’s Viewpoint.” There was a good attendance, a number of ladies being present. In the absence of Mr Pirrit, president of the Farmers’ Union, CapLain Colbeck occupied the chair. Mr Stephens, in a very interesting manner, pointed out the many ad-van-tages and disadvantages of protection, and its effects in all parts of the world. A large number of questions was asked and answered.
