THE MISSING AIRMEN.

UNSUCCESSFUL SEARCH. LOSS IN OCEAN FEARED. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. DELHI, July 6. An intensive search is being made along Hie coast between Kyaukpyu, 80 miles south of Akyab and Bassein, for Messrs Matthews and Ilook, who were last seen over Kyaukpyu, heading out to sea. It is feared that the airmen have fallen into the ocean, as the weather at the time they were seen was stormy and Lhc visibility was poor. The captains of vessels in the vicinity have been asked to keep a sharp lookout for any trace of the missing men. The region between Akyab and Rangoon is where Sir Alan Cobharn and Miss Amy Johnson met most terrible weather. Sir Alan was forced to alight on the sea, and Miss Johnson had to turn back in order to obtain sufficient altitude .to cross the mountains, into which she narrowly escaped crashing. LATER. MACHINE IN DIFFICULTIES. LITTLE CHANCE OF ESCAPE. (Received July 8, 9.45 a.m.) RANGOON, July 7. The latest message about Hook and Matthews slates that their aeroplane was seen on the morning of July 3 over a village about ten miles north of Toungup. It was flying low, and was apparently in difficulties. The chances of the airmen being alive are remote if the aeroplane crashed in this locality, as it consists of impenetrable jungle.
