BRIDGE PARTIES. On Friday, Mrs A. 11. Nicoll gave a bridge afternoon. The room was decorated with autumn shaded chrysanthemums and leaves. Mrs Nicoll received her guests in a frock of beize lace and black panne velvet coat. [Those prseent were: —Mesdames E. E. | Roberts, N. Sutherland, N. Banks, R. Neely, Innes Taylor, S. Tapley, G. Calvert, R. Wilson,"S. Lewis, A. Jennings; Misses Gwynneth, M. .Hart. An Friday evening, Mrs Nicol gave another party. Those present were:— Mrs M. Wells,, wearing black georgette and black panne velvet coat; Mrs Haywood, black georgette; Mrs B. Couper, oyster georgette frock, blue [velvet wrap; Mrs Sawers, navy- crepe-de-chine; Miss Dunn, floral georgette frock, green coat and oriental trimmings; Miss E. Willis, Apricot taffeta; Miss S. WiHis, wine georgette; Miss A. Banks, henna embossed georgette; Miss G. Brann, blue beaded georgette and coat to match; Miss S. Brann, blue georgette: Miss A. Cox, black georgette and,pink shawl;. Miss Christophers, black georgette l'rock and Chinese coat. Dance. On Thursday, Mr and, Mrs W. Vosper gave a dance for their two grandchildren, Misses J. A-mbury and G. Martyn. The room was prettily decorated with tree ferns, balloons and streamers. Mrs Vosper received her guests in a frock of navy blue'georgette. Brabant,' who has been spending a short holiday with Miss Brann, returned-to Gisborne yesterday. Mrs E. Souter and Miss R. Souter left on Sunday for Auckland, where they are spending a' short -holiday.
