LONDON MARKETS. TALLOW AND HEMP. WELLINGTON, Monday. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated May 24, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London;— Tallow.—An auction will be held next week. The spot market is dull and quotations are practically unchanged. Hemp.—Manila; The tendency is still down. “J ” grade, June'August shipment, sold at £25 10 s. Sisal; Market dull and quiet. Quota,!ion-; 10s lower than last week. New Zealand: The market is easier, but there is little interest owing to depression in sisal and Manila. No Urst-hand sales reported. quiet and easier. Sellers of May/June shipment are quoted: Calcutta, £lB 10s; Bombay, £l9 10s; Plate, £l7 ss. BUTTER AND CHEESE. Leonard and Son, Ltd., has received the following cablegram from A. C. Rovvson, London, dated May 23: Butter. —New Zealand, finest, 128 s; first grade* 1265. The demand is very slow' and the market steady. The outlook is uncertain. Cheese.—New Zealand, white 70s, coloured 85s. The market is weak, and the demand very' slow. Prices are near bottom. Deliveries: New Zealand and Australian, 17,789 crates; Canadian, 1899 boxes. Stock: New Zealand and Australian, 132,609 crates; Canadian, 96,147 boxes.
