PATERANGI.
Hookey. The Paterangi ladies’ hockey team journeyel to Te Kuiti last Saturday, where they played Te Kuiti in the second match of the season. Miss K. Macky scored four goals for Paterangi, Miss G. Bell two, Miss P. Sifleet 1, while Mrs Watson scored for Te Kuiti. The men’s hockey team commenced the first round of the Empson Cup on Wednesday. The two Paterangi teams were pitted against each other, while Ramblers met Waratahs. The standard of play was very good for the opening game, but there was plenty of room for improvement. An interesting contest ended in a draw, with three goals each. Scorers for the A team were E. and R. Bell and G. Finch, and for the B team 11. Bennett scored 2 goals, A. Bowler 1. Mr G. J. Spiers was referee. Church Meeting. An Anglican Church meeting was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs C. S. Munroe. There was a large attendance, including the vicar and Mr Holt and Mr Todd, of Te Awamutu. Plans and designs for the Anglican Church were discussed, and estimates compared. A further meeting to finalise the matter will be held in the near future.
Supper was served after the meeting and a happy social evening spent with music and songs. personal. Mrs J. Walker and the Misses Walker, of Papalcura, are staying at “The Oaks.” Mrs Bennett is on a holiday in the South Island. Mrs C. Graham and faimly are in Auckland for the school holidays. Miss E. Shaw has returned from a short holiday in Auckland.
