Replying to a question in the House ol' Commons, the' Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr Philip Snowden said the sum due by the Government of Russia to this country oh March 31 last amounted to £900,000,000. Up to the present no suggestion had been received from the Soviet Government •regarding the funding of this debt, but it would be amongst the questions to be discussed in the negotiations with the Soviet Government, which were to take place shortly. The money lent to Russia during the war was borrowed by the British Government at over 5 per cent, and the annual sum now paid by the tax-payers in interest accordingly amounted to jpver £45,0Q0,000 l :
