Rotowaro rushed play downfield, where, from a line-out, HCrook, who was unmarked, scored a simple ■ try, making the score three all. W. Smith started a fine passing bout which ended in G. Berry scoring a nice try. He failed with the kick at goal. Rotowaro 6, Taupiri 3. N. Note>3 on the Game.

Rotowaro deserve their win. Their backs are a nippy set, and when thev can gain possession from the scrum will take a lot of beating. The forwards are an even set, but lack any sting. If kept together they are sure • to greatly improve. For the winners Broughton was a safe custodian. The three-quarter line are a fast lot, R. Clout being most prominent. W. Smith and Worsky combined well, the former being a heady player. W. Hart, at half, did not get too much of the ball, but performed well- The forwards are a hard-work-ing and even lot, and with more experience should be capable of extending anything in the competition. For the losers R. Miller played well, but his tackling was not too sound. McGowan played a good game, but should run straight and not be tackled with the ball. Button was weak. Farrell, at centre, has played better. Wright was not as good as usual. N. Jackaways played his first game and showed up. When in his best form he is sure to make his presence felt. N. Davies, at half, was solid, and sent his backs away whenever possible. S. Lilt, as rover, showed no improvement on his previous form- He would do better on the wing. The forwards dominated the play in the first quarter, but fell away and lacked leadership. Pitcorn and Metcalfe secured the bail most in the pack. McNaughton and B. Jackaways were the outstanding forwards. The tackling of the Taupiri team was painfully weak and was responsible for their downfall. MATAMATA UNION. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. The weekly, meeting of the management committee of the Rugby Union was held on Monday evening, Mr J. E. Cummings presiding. The' secretary of the “ Rest Room ” committee wrote accepting and thanking the union for offering to put on a football match for its funds on a 50 per cent, basis. The . Cambridge Union acknowledged receipt of the offer of dates for interunion representative fixtures, but notified its intention of providing with club fixtures before accepting outside engagements.

The. Morrinsville Union offered senior A and B representative matches at Matamata and a junior game at Morrinsville on May 31, but as this date is already fixed with Rotorua it was decided to try and arrange dates for these fixtures to be played later on in the season.

C. J. Murray; Hinuera, was regraded from senior.'to junior. Heke and Moore, respectively' members of the Arapuni and Patetere teams, who had been ordered off for fighting in last Saturday’s match were, after considerable discussion, severely cautioned, an amendment that they be suspended for two playing. Saturdays being defeated.

The Referees’ Association drew the attention of the committee to the appointment of line-umpires and the secretary was instructed to notify the clubs. The Referees’Association also requested the union to do some extra marking on numbers two and three grounds and this is to be carried out. It was decided to ask the Waikato Union, in the event of a junior curtainraiser being played before the fixture with the British team, that Matamata and Hamilton, winner, and runner-up in the Clark Cup fixtures last season, be the teams engaged.
