The rates to be struck within the Palmerston North Borough during the coming year, were decided upon toy the council at its last meeting as follows: —General rates 8s lOd where annual rateable value does not exceed £l2 10s and where it exceeds that amount, a rate of 3£ per cent, of such value; library rate of l-9d in the £; hospital rate of 4-7 d in the £; special rates to provide interest and sinking fund on loans, 3 17-252 din the £; ""•-otntinn fee of 17s 6d.
